親民黨主席宋楚瑜還未宣布是否投入2016年總統大選，但已有民調分析指出，宋楚瑜參選對國民黨的影響將大過民進黨。
對此，立法院長王金平22日在立法院受訪時表示他沒有瞭解，因此無從評論，更何況宋楚瑜還沒有宣布是否參選。不過，王金平也坦言若宋楚瑜參選，難免會瓜分票源，各方面都會受到影響。王金平說：『(原音)台灣話一句就是「多開井就會多拔泉」，難免各方面都會受到影響。(記者：所以對國民黨影響會大過於民進黨？)這個我不清楚。』
另外，壹週刊報導指王金平能否續任不分區立委已在黨內掀起一陣角力，傳出擁王派建議王金平拒絕接受黨內為他修改不分區立委提名辦法，以保留最後一絲尊嚴。對此，王金平不願回應，僅表示不方便回答相關問題。
